Comedian Artie Lange Arrested for Missing Court Date
Comedian Artie Lange was arrested at his New Jersey home Tuesday night after failing to make a scheduled court appearance related to a drug charge.
Lange was first arrested by state police on May 12 after he was seen erratically driving his Range Rover on the Garden State Parkway, according to Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura via NJ.com.
When stopped, detectives found a bag of heroin on Lange’s lap and was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia, according to Fontoura.

In March, the former “Howard Stern Show” personality was arrested for heroin and cocaine possession, which was reported as “several bags of drugs” in his possession. He was released after being booked on three unspecified charges.
Lange has spoken publicly about his battles with addiction, and he tweeted after the March incident, “Hey guys. I was arrested. I’m doing great. Physically too! I’m in St. Louis & will be on stage this weekend at The Funnybone! Love u all!.”

He likewise appeared on an episode of “Crashing” that dramatized his struggles with addiction. Executive producer Judd Apatow at that time defended Lange, saying “we would never give up on Artie or anyone struggling with addiction.”
The Essex County Sheriff Department and Lange’s representatives did not respond for comment.
