UFC 223 Embedded, part 5: Watch Conor McGregor assault a bus
Check out the Conor McGregor episode of Embedded for UFC 223.
UFC 223 is almost here, and as usual, Embedded is here as well. The show that gives you an inside look at the marquee contestants on PPVs has issued the fourth episode for this weekend’s big show in Brooklyn, and it serves as a brief introduction to the fighters at the top of the newly-designed card.
Or, we can just focus on Conor McGregor going berzerk and busting up a bus full of UFC fighters.
The episode opens right in the thick of the action, with Conor and his boys banging on the bus. Conor runs around the side, grabs a dolly, and tosses it through a bus window. You get footage from inside the bus as he does it. Michael Chiesa is cut up. McGregor continues to bang on the side of the bus, presumably calling out Khabib Nurmagomedov, while everyone on the bus is trying to figure out what the hell just happened.
“Who are these guys?”
“They’re Conor’s guys.”
“What the f—k is wrong with him?”
As security grabs Conor while he picks up a guard rail, he yells to his boys - “Smash the windows!”
The front window of the bus is then smashed. Even then, Conor picks up a chair and tries to get back at the bus as it exits the loading dock. Then he joins his entourage in exiting stage left like hooligans from a movie. This is some crazy, crazy footage that you really need to see for yourself.
UFC exec Reed Harris, who is on the bus, immediately calls Dana White and tells him what happened. Ray Borg and Rose Namajunas are stunned. Karolina Kowalkiewicz as well. Khabib looks unfazed as they get off the bus, and speaks to the camera:
“Just tell me where, where, and that’s it. Why you need to come here. Show up like you want to fight or something like this. Send a message. ‘Hey, come here, this place.’ And that’s it. Without security, without UFC. Without nothing. Just send me message, let me know where, and that’s it. And what time. Let me know and that’s it.”
That was a hell of a promo.
Dana shows up and talks to the fighters and their reps. “He’s going to jail,” he says. They get another bus to take them all back to the hotel, and White explains to the camera what just happened. They show some footage of the busted up bus. He’s not sure at that point whether Namajunas is going to fight, as she was almost hit by the flying dolly.
Things change completely then, and we go with Tyron Woodley to the New York Stock Exchange. A bunch of champs are there actually. Demetrious Johnson, Stipe Miocic, Daniel Cormier. Cormier talks about Holloway being out of the fight and what his teammate Khabib should do.
We’re off to the weigh-ins now. Matt Serra has a cameo. Al Iaquinta reacts to getting the fight with Khabib with his typical candor - “Let’s f—king go.” Megan Olivi interviews him about the big change. His coach Ray Longo talks about it as well.
The episode ends with a still image of a crazed McGregor throwing the dolly. That was a doozy of an episode.
