Kyle Kuzma exits game with mild ankle sprain

Just what the Lakers need: another injury.

The Los Angeles Lakers just can’t seem to stay healthy as another name was added to the injury list on Friday night. After trying to play through a mild ankle sprain that he suffered in the early minutes of the game, rookie Kyle Kuzma was ruled of the remainder of the Lakers’ game against the Timberwolves.

Kuzma has been playing on a bad ankle for a few games now, but the way he tweaked it on Friday must have caused him too much pain to play through. Kuzma will likely be re-evaluated tomorrow.

With the injury report already longer than the Timberwolves’ playoff drought, the last thing the Lakers need is another injury to a key player. Kuzma leads the Lakers in scoring this season with 16.3 points per game and also contributes a modest 6.3 rebounds per game.

Hopefully, it won’t keep him out more than a game, but if it’s something more than just a mild ankle sprain, there’s no reason to have him out there. With three games left in the season, the goal now is just to finish in mostly one piece.
