KNIGHTS' WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL KICKS OFF 2018 SEASON WITH A WIN
LAURINBURG - In a regional matchup that pitted the St. Andrews University women's volleyball team against the visiting NCAA Division II Broncos of Fayetteville State University on Saturday, August 25th, the Knights opened up their schedule with a victory of 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-11). Knights' Head Coach Holly Mandeville said following the win, "I thought the team did a great job for it being the first game. We have worked very hard this preseason getting everyone on the same page, and I think it showed today. We still have a long way to go, but I am proud of how they played overall."
The Knights were led by Kaylah Sloop (FR) with nine kills, Kellie Price (JR/Oxford, NC) with three kills and six blocks, Shalia Powell (JR/Dayton, NV) with 14 assists and four defensive digs, Destiney O'Kane (SR/El Paso, TX) with four blocks and Karina Lozada (SO/Bayamon, Puerto Rico) with six defensive digs. Leading the stats for the Broncos were Bojo Jada with eight kills and Meagan Greene with six defensive digs.
St. Andrews will be on the road August 31st and September 1st in Marietta, Georgia to face Faulkner University, College of Coastal Georgia, Brewton-Parker College and Life University. The team will return home to Harris Court on Tuesday, September 4th to host Columbia College.
