Look, I know that it’s fashionable to describe the Villa as “Witton Historians”, and I can understand why their insistence on talking up the trophies they won over 100 years ago irritates Blues fans.

But I think it’s important to find out about the history of your favourite club, and Blues have a rich and interesting past about which we should have a right to be proud.

Anyway, what I’d like to know is ...

“Which Blues player from an era before you were born would you most have liked to have seen in the flesh?”

I had two players in mind - the first is Fred Wheldon who scored goals for fun in the late 19th century, including 25 goals in 22 games one season, and who was largely responsible for getting us into the Football League in the first place and then winning Div 2 before finally getting promoted to Div 1 for the first time.
