U.S. District Judge Ronald Leighton was nearing a ruling when, on Friday, federal defenders asked him to delay his decision for one month, saying their investigator has discovered three unsolved slayings in Alaska that might bolster their client's claim that he took the blame for the boat slaying after being threatened by the real killer.
