Detroit Chapter meeting (Detroit, MI)
The SABR Detroit Chapter will hold its next meeting on Saturday afternoon, October 20, 2018, from 1:00 till 5:30 p.m. in the Music Room on the third floor of the Detroit Public Library, 5201 Woodward Avenue in Midtown Detroit. Our featured speakers will be Tom Gage and Mickey Lolich.
Tigers stalwart starting pitcher Mickey Lolich was the hero and the MVP of the 1968 World Series. He has collaborated with Tom Gage to write the recently-published book Joy in Tigertown: A Determined Team, a Resilient City, and Our Magical Run to the 1968 World Series.
Tom Gage, who covered the Detroit Tigers for more than three decades for the Detroit News, was honored by the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown as the J.G. Taylor Spink Award winner in 2015.
Lolich and Gage will speak as well as take questions before signing copies of their book.
There will also be an optional lunch in Midtown from 11:30-12:45 before the meeting. As always, the meeting is free and open to all — friends and non-members are welcome.
Please RSVP to Gary Gillette at GGillette@HiddenGameSports.com if you plan on attending the meeting and/or the luncheon.
