Ebonyi APC selects senator as party’s governorship candidate for 2019
The Ebonyi chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has picked Senator Sonni Ogbuoji as its gubernatorial candidate for the state in the 2019 general elections.
According to The Sun, a total of nine aspirants were in the race to get the ticket. They were: Senator Sonni Ogbuoji who garnered 785 votes, Kelechi Chima who pulled in 70 votes, Prof Bernard Odoh who got 519 votes, and Dr Paul Okorie who got 107 votes.
Others were Dr Edward Nkwegu (395 votes), Obasi O. Obasi (182 votes), Senator Emma Agbo Oti (75 votes), Christian Chukwu (7 votes), and Austin Edeze (116 votes).

NAIJ.com gathers that the results were declared by the chairman of the 7-man electoral committee for the state, Senator Domingo Obende.
He said: “In all, we had an accreditation of 2,278 delegates. Then we had total votes cast, 2, 261. Among these 2,261, five (5) of the votes were invalid leaving us with a total of 2,256 votes.”

Recall that NAIJ.com previously reported that on Thursday, September 27, the ruling All Progressives Congress said it had screened members of the party with ambitions to become governors in various states across Nigeria.
The party, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Yekini Nabena, said the governorship aspirants from states of the federation that were cleared to contest the primaries were screened by APC's governorship screening committee.
