Chg: Jashpur electorates take pledge to cast votes in polls
As many as 3,68,347 voters on Tuesday formed human circles at different places in Chhattisgarh's tribal-dominated Jashpur districtand pledged to cast vote in the upcoming Assembly polls.
The campaign titled 'Jash Pran' (Jashpur-oath) was held under the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme to increase awareness regarding voting and ensure that there is a maximum turnout on the poll day.
"The campaign has been receiving a huge response in district," Jashpur Collector Priyanka Shukla told PTI.
As part of the drive, 'Jash Pran chakra diwas' was observed in the district on the 149th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, under which 'human chakras' were formed to take oath of voting, she said.
As many as 3,68,347 electorates, including a large number of first-timers, formed human chakra at 741 places in the district which covers three assembly constituencies, according to the collector.
