Russia ‘hails’ any dialogue over Karabakh  

The Russian Foreign Ministry has commented upon the recent non-formal meeting between the Armenian and Azerbaijani top leaders, saying that they hail any arrangement promising a breakthrough in the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) peace process.

“Russia hails any arrangement aiming at the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We are hopeful that the dialogue in Dushanbe will assist in the realization of the plan,” Trend News Agency quotes an official representative of the agency as saying.

The source also reportedly expressed Russia’s readiness to offer an effective mediation in the process as a co-chairing country of the OSCE Minsk Group.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who was recently in Tajikistan’s capital to attend the CIS leaders’ forum, said in a Facebook live after his return that the non-formal talks with President Ilham Aliyev offered them an opportunity “to discuss further peace strengthening and confidence-building measures” along the frontline
