MFA spokesperson unveils approximate timeframes of new Armenian-Azerbaijani ministerial summit
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said Tuesday that the new summit between the Armenian and Azerbaijani diplomats may be held until the end of this year to continue the negotiations over Nagorn-Karabakh (Artsakh).
“The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan will, in all likelihood, meet until the end of the year,” Tigran Balayan told reporters when asked to comment on possible plans to arrange a new round of talks after Nikol Pashinyan’s recent non-formal meeting with the Azerbaijani president in Dushanbe.
After his return  from the Tajikistani capital (where he was taking part in the summit of the CIS member states’ leaders), Pashinyan said in a Facebook live message last Monday he had talked about peace-strengthening measures along the frontline with the Azerbaijani leader, considering plans for creating communication channels to facilitate the dialogue.
“We agreed to issue specific tasks to our Ministries of Defense in order to reduce the tensions along the frontline – and in general -  in an effort to prevent border incidents,” the prime minister said.
