Cult Fave 'Galaxy Quest' Getting TV Series Reboot
Before "Guardians Of The Galaxy," there were plenty of other movies that did the wild, wacky, space adventure thing (we ran down twenty-six of them), but few are as beloved as "Galaxy Quest." The 1999 sci-fi film has a killer cast that includes Tim Allen, Alan Rickman, Sigourney Weaver, and Sam Rockwell and became a cult favorite, and fans have been hoping for a sequel. Well, that's not gonna happen, but this might be the next best thing.
Variety reports that Paramount is turning the wheels on a television series version of the "Galaxy Quest." The key creatives from the movie — co-writer Robert Gordon, director Dean Parisot, and executive producers Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein — are all board to work on this new take. The same premise will be used, following the cast of a cancelled '70s sci-fi show who find themselves in a real deal space adventure, and it's easy to see how it could translate to a small screen...
