Winning numbers for $495 million Powerball jackpot announced
Those hoping for a multi-million-dollar win in Saturday’s Powerball drawing can check their tickets now — the results are in.
The winning numbers announced Saturday evening are 30, 34, 39, 53, 67, red Powerball 11 and PowerPlay 2X.
The Powerball jackpot reached $495 million this week after no one matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s draw. The prize is the eighth largest ever for the game.
The jackpot was last hit in New York in the December 26 drawing. Since then, there have been 22 drawings in a row without a jackpot winner. The run has produced eight tickets that have won $2 million and 33 tickets that have won $1 million.
In Wednesday’s drawing, two tickets in New York matched all five white balls but missed matching the red Powerball. A ticket in Florida matched all five white balls and doubled the prize to $2 million because the ticket included the Power Play option for an additional $1. The odds of winning a jackpot per play are 1 in 292,201,338.
Powerball tickets are sold in 44 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Last October, the Mega Millions jackpot soared to a record $1.5 billion. The holder of the winning ticket, which was sold in South Carolina, came forward just last week to claim the prize.
In the Bay Area, workers at a San Jose branch of Wells Fargo who bought a winning ticket at Ernie’s Liquors split a $543 million Mega Millions jackpot last July.
