[Outdoor Track & Field] Track opens outdoor season at CMU Open
FAYETTE, Mo. – The Kansas Wesleyan track and field teams opened the outdoor portion of the schedule on Saturday at the Central Methodist Open. The men finished in eighth out of the 12 teams that scored in the meet while the women finished tied for tenth out of the 11 teams that scored in the meet.
On the men's side, several top performances were recorded.
Jacob Lovell (SO/Junction City, Kan.) was fourth in the 1500m with a time of 4:06.85. In the 3000m, Giron was fourth with a time of 9:13.19. Michael Sarafin (SR/Peyton, Colo.) was seventh in the 800m with a time of 2:08.26. Lane Peters (FR/Scandia, Kan.) was sixth in the 200m with a time of 22.78. Peters was eighth in the 400m with a time of 51.82.
Justin Weber (FR/Bucyrus, Kan.) was 21st in the 100m with a time of 12.63.
In the 200m, Elijah Davis (SO/Fort Worth, Texas) was eighth with a time of 23.09, Tyler Logan (SO/Loveland, Colo.) was 13th with a time of 23.74, and Weber was 20th with a time of 24.65.
In the 400m, Davis was 14th with a time of 52.88 and Logan was 21st with a time of 54.37.
In the 800m, Jonathan Samayoa (SO/Columbus, Neb.) was 12th with a time of 2:13.09.
In the 1500m, Sarafin was tenth with a time of 4:14.94, Kaeori Giron (FR/El Paso, Texas) was 12th with a time of 4:16.44, Grant Loewer (SR/Burden, Kan.) was 25th with a time of 4:30.58, and Samayoa was 33rd with a time of 4:42.91.
Also in the 3000m, Lovell was sixth with a time of 9:16.40, John Greening (SR/Goleta, Calif.) was 22nd with a time of 9:56.03, and Loewer was 23rd with a time of 9:56.30.
On the women's side, the Coyotes also had some strong performances.
Makenzie Tucker (FR/Grantville, Kan.) second in the pole vault, clearing 2.75m. Tucker was also third in the 800m with a time of 2:31.30 and Tabetha Deines (FR/Salina, Kan.) was fifth with a time of 2:35.06. In the 3000m, Stephanie Martinez (FR/Horizon City, Texas) was fifth with a time of 11:20.34.
In the 1500m, Martinez was eighth with a time of 5:12.13 and Tucker was ninth with a time of 5:14.94, Deines was 23rd with a time of 5:35.21 and Bailie Troll (JR/Peck, Kan.) was 24th with a time of 5:36.19.
Natalie Soukup (SO/Ellsworth, Kan.) was sixth in the hammer with a throw of 39.25m, ninth in the discus with a throw of 32.42m, and was 13th in the shot put with a throw of 10.03m.
Up next for the Coyotes is the Alex Francis Classic on March 29 in Hays.
