Police arrest Antioch man suspected of building and selling illegal guns
ANTIOCH — Police arrested an Antioch man suspected of possessing, manufacturing and selling illegal firearms early Saturday, according to the Antioch Police Department.
Search warrant in hand, police officers, along with the department’s SWAT team, went to the 200 block of J Street about 6 a.m. Saturday as part of an investigation into Terry Ferguson, who they believed was building and selling unregistered firearms, police said in a news release issued Saturday.
Ferguson had been on parole for robbery, on county probation for possession of narcotics while armed with a firearm and had a felony warrant issued for his arrest, police said. Officers detained Ferguson and other suspects during the search Saturday morning and searched the residence, where they found a variety of firearms.
Detectives found “additional evidence” that indicated Ferguson was manufacturing unregistered fully automatic handguns and rifles, police said.
Ferguson was booked at county jail on charges that include being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, possession of prohibited firearms, and illegally manufacturing and selling firearms.
The investigation is ongoing. Police are urging those with information about the case to call the Antioch Police Department non-emergency line at (925)778-2441 or text a tip to 274637 (CRIMES) using the key word ANTIOCH.
