Desmond describes his performance: "My performance was based on Donald Trump saying that you should grab women in their privates, which I don't think is right and anyone who thinks it's okay to touch people like that without their permission is wrong. No one asks for someone to do that. I made a poster with Trump on it that said 'Grab 'Em' for my performance and tore it up and threw it to the audience. I think it is awful that our President would say that about women.
I also passed out $45 bills with Trump on them to the audience. I was pretending to be a beauty pageant winner at the beginning of the song and the fake Trump money was my prize money. I saw a documentary on A&E where it said Trump did inappropriate things at the Miss Universe pageants and that disgusted me. I took off my skirt as a reveal to go from dressed as a beauty queen to being a Courtney Love character to match the song. I wasn't stripping. Reveals are normal in drag shows and also in fashion shows. It is meant to wow the audience. I had a knee length dress underneath.
I earned some tip money for my performance. People get so bent out of shape over the fact that I get tips. They should come to NYC. I have lived here all my life and I am a New Yorker. Literally, almost every time I am on the subway, kids are selling fruit snacks and candy for extra money. Kids dance in the trains and stations for money. In NYC, you can do anything and make your own way no matter what your age. Should child actors in film and tv and on stage not be paid too? I use my tip money from my performances like an allowance. I buy toys and clothes that I want. I like to collect blind bag Thomas Mini's.""
