Govt to monitor Chand-led CPN activities
KATHMANDU: Following ban of activities of Netra Bikram Chand led Communist Party, the government today said it will now scrutinise all future activities of the former.
Earlier, the Home Ministry had announced Chand-led party as a criminal outfit after it carried out attack on telecom service provider Ncell, killing one and injuring two others, and bombed a car owned by a manpower owner who had denied to ‘donate’ funds to the party.
Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department have stepped up efforts and have been kept in high alert to avert possible acts of violence by Chand-led outfit in the future.
According to Spokesperson of Police Uttam Raj Subedi, security has been heightened in all 77 districts to maintain peace and security.
“The group banned by the government is a criminal outfit. And a circular has been issued to the police offices across the country to arrest persons affiliated to the group. No one is excused to carry out violent acts from under a political veil,” said the Police Spokesperson.
Following the ban, police have arrested 11 cadres and leaders of the group including politburo member Mohan Karki, till date.
Likewise, the Home Ministry has also issued a 35-day-notice on March 15 to the Chand-led outfit to surrender illegal weapons to the government.
