Jurgen Klopp says Bayern interest is ‘great’ but wants to be Liverpool boss for life
JURGEN Klopp has described Bayern Munich’s interest in him as “great” but the German manager has insisted that he wants to be Liverpool boss for life.
The former Borussia Dortmund coach was hailed as an ideal appointment for the Bundesliga giants before the Reds progressed to the Champions League quarter-finals.
Liverpool’s 3-1 victory at the Allianz Arena increased the growing pressure on Niko Kovac and Franz Beckenbauer revealed he wants Klopp to return to Germany.
Although the Reds boss spoke of his admiration for the Bayern legend, he insisted he remains focused on winning trophies with Liverpool.
He said: “There is no bigger legend in Germany than Franz Beckenbauer. It feels great he speaks positively about me. It is just like the king with his sword calling a man ‘sir’.
“If he thinks that, it is a compliment to Liverpool. Bayern have done everything right in the last 10 or 15 years without making many mistakes but I feel I am a good fit where I am.
“I love it here, there are lots of opportunities to develop an already really good team. I have enough confidence to say I am the right manager for Liverpool at the moment, though in football we all constantly have to prove ourselves.”
Klopp is yet to pick up a trophy since he arrived at Anfield in October 2015 with his side losing the League Cup, Europa League and Champions League finals.
But this season has proven that the squad is strong enough to challenge for the league title again and the German sees plenty of reasons to be positive.
In addition to their European success, the Reds will also return to the summit of the Premier League table with a win at Fulham ahead of the season’s final eight games.

Klopp added: “So far, it has worked out, and hopefully it will last a lot longer. That would be cool.
“We are very happy about the situation and very positive about the future. We are fine with what we’ve done so far, but now we have to finish the season the best way possible.
“It is a big opportunity. We have improved a lot, but people judge it only on winning titles. We know that, but we can change it in the future.”
