Robert Pires tells former club Arsenal to sign £20m Rennes striker Ismaila Sarr after Europa League clash
ROBERT PIRES urged Arsenal to sign Rennes youngster Ismaila Sarr after he impressed against the Gunners in the Europa League.
The 21-year-old winger has bagged ten goals and 11 assists from 39 appearances in all competitions for the French side this season.
Sarr notched Rennes’ third goal in their 3-1 victory over Arsenal in the first-leg of their Europa League clash and reports suggested that talks to sign him began immediately after the game.
Prior to his departure, Sven Mislintat – Arsenal’s former head of recruitment – highlighted Sarr as a potential target and the club are understood to have kept tabs on him despite Mislintat’s exit last month.
In the wake of Denis Suarez’s disappointing loan spell, a winger is likely on the North-London club’s radar.
When pressed on reports of the move, Pires made it clear he thought the youngster would be a success.

“He has the profile to evolve at the Gunners and would adapt quickly to the way of play wanted by Unai Emery.”
He added: “He’s a wide player, a dribbler who runs fast and is able to score.
