Richarlison scores opener as Everton beat Chelsea in a tough EPL tie at Goodison Park

Everton defeated Chelsea 2-0 in a tough Premier League clash on Sunday, March 17, at Goodison Park.
The encounter saw Chelsea start in the front foot after Eden Hazard’s decent shot in the 6th minute, but Everton shot-stopper Jordan Pickford was on hand to make a save, with scores still at 0-0..
A minute later, Hazard again came close to opening the scores, but his shot from 16-yard out could only hit the woodwork.

On the other hand, the Toffees had a chance to net in the 16th minute from Dominic Calvert-Lewin let fly from 18-yards out, but missed the target by inches.
In the 26th minute, Chelsea goalie Kepa was the saviour, saving excellently a decent shot from Andre Gomes inside the box.
With three minutes to the break, Pedro has a glorious chance to put Chelsea after a through pass on goal, but the Spaniard failed to beat Pickford.
At the end of the first stanza scores remained goalless.
In the 59th minute, Richarlison netted the opener off a header from a loose ball inside the Chelsea penalty box, to see Everton go ahead.
Despite going ahead, the home-side continued the pressure and were awarded a spot-kick in the 71st minute after Marcos Alonso committed a foul in the box.

Gylfi Sigurdsson took responsibility for Everton and after his initial shot rebounded, but he reacted quickest to score from close range.
Chelsea failed to recover after conceding the second and at the blast of the whistle the Blues suffered their seventh defeat in the EPL this campaign.
