Private sector adds 237,000 jobs in June: ADP

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Private-sector hiring picked up in June, as employers added 237,000 jobs, ADP reported Wednesday. Economists polled by Dow Jones Newswires had expected a June gain of 220,000, compared with an originally reported increase of 201,000 in May. On Wednesday ADP tweaked May's gain to 203,000. Economists use ADP's data to get a feeling for the U.S. Labor Department's employment report, which will be released Thursday and covers government jobs in addition to the private sector.
