Oil prices turn higher after EIA reports 4.2 million-barrel drop in crude supplies

Oil prices turned higher after the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Wednesday reported a decline of 4.2 million barrels in crude supplies for the week ended July 24. Analysts polled by Platts forecast a crude-stock fall of 700,000 barrels, while the American Petroleum Institute Tuesday said supplies declined 1.9 million barrels, according to sources. US pending home sales slip in June

WASHINGTON (AP) — The number of signed contracts to buy homes fell in June, as limited supplies of homes on the market are holding back possible sales growth. The National Association of Realtors said Wednesday that its seasonally adjusted pending home sales index declined 1.8 percent to 110.3 last month. Still, strong demand from would-be buyers has pushed the index up 8.2 percent during the past 12 months.
