UPS reaches new biofuel deals to reduce carbon emissions

UPS said Wednesday it has reached agreements for up to 46 million gallons of renewable fuels over the next three years, a 15-fold increase over its previous contracts. The parcel delivery service said Neste, Renewable Energy Group and Solazyme will supply it with renewable diesel, as it shifts to make more than 12% of its fuel come from alternatives by the end of 2017. British singer Jane Birkin on Tuesday asked Hermés to remove her name from the iconic crocodile skin Birkin bag after rights group PETA published an expose on “cruel” treatment of the animals at farms in Texas and Zimbabwe. NEW YORK (AP) — President Barack Obama has signed a bill renaming a Bronx post office in honor of the late New York Congressman Herman Badillo. Members of New York's congressional delegation passed the bill earlier this month to rename the Morrisania Post Office to the Herman Badillo Post Office Building. Obama made it official on Monday. Badillo represented the South Bronx for seven years and was the first congressman born in Puerto Rico. He also served as Bronx borough president and as a deputy mayor in New York City.
