Will Sam Allardyce fix Everton?

Arsenal News

As Sam Allardyce watched over his new charges at Goodison Park for the first time last week, it would have been easy to think that, in carving out a comfortable 4-0 win over West Ham, his mere presence had improved things. On the other hand, one could equally have looked at the presence of David Moyes in the away dugout and found their explanation there. In five matches against the Toffees since Moyes left Goodison in 2013, his teams have five losses, no goals scored, and twelve conceded. Nonetheless... Читать дальше...

Serve Your Constituency

Talking Points Memo

With what now seems like Al Franken’s inevitable resignation tomorrow, I wanted to re-up this post from a week ago on who gets forced to resign and who doesn’t. It’s not the press’s fault that Donald Trump is still President and Al Franken is about to an ex-Senator. The same applies to Roy Moore. All of these incidents play out based on the constituency of the accused or the larger organization they represent. That applies whether it’s consumers or voters or comparable category. Most Trump supporters simply don’t care. Читать дальше...

Geopolitical risk isn't what's driving oil prices anymore

BusinessInsider.com

AIZAR RALDES/AFP/Getty Images

  • Pegging oil price spikes on "geopolitical risk" is not only wrong but careless.
  • Most recently the oil market movers are Saudi Arabia and Iran.
  • In the US, a shale boom is helping drive down prices, for now...

At the end of October, Brent crude prices crossed $60 per barrel for the first time in two years. They peaked at around $64.

Experts explained the spike with vague references to “geopolitical risk,” without really detailing what those risks entailed. Читать дальше...

«SFGate» (sfgate.com)

After 12 games, 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk has 19 catches, seven carries and one touchdown. This begs the question: Did the 49ers forget about those offseason plan to make him a solid part of their offense? In March, general manager John Lynch inspired images of Juszczyk endlessly carrying and catching when he explained why the 49ers outbid several other teams and made him the NFL’s highest-paid player at his position. The National Interest

Kyle Mizokami

Security,

The M27 has become so well liked in August 2017 the Marine Corps issued an intent notice to procure another 50,000 rifles—enough to equip every infantryman and automatic rifleman in front-line combat units.

Marksmanship, the ability to shoot accurately and service targets with the minimum expenditure of ammunition, has always been part of the U.S. Marine Corps ethos. The adoption of the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle over the older M249 Squad Automatic... Читать дальше...
