Lululemon shares jump on earnings, sales beat

Lululemon Athletica Inc. shares rose more than 6% late Wednesday after the apparel retailer reported third-quarter earnings and sales above Wall Street expectations and total comparable sales growth came in well above forecasts. Lululemon said it earned $59 million, or 43 cents a share, compared with $68 million, or 50 cents a share, in the year-ago period. The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said it had profit of 43 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 56 cents per share. The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 16 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 52 cents per share.
