Gaza (dpa) - Israel has arrested Hassan Yousef, a high-ranking member of the radical Islamist Hamas movement, in an overnight raid at his home in the West Bank, according to a spokeswoman from Israel‘s defence forces.The Times of Israel said Yousef was detained in Ramallah in one of a number of raids. In all, 32 Palestinians were detained for suspected involvement in terrorist activities and violent rioting, the paper said citing security forces.Palestinian media reports said that raids in the West Bank saw a number of Hamas leaders arrested.

The Thomas fire continued to burn through Ventura County on Tuesday, December 12, setting off more evacuations and scorching over 230,000 acres of land. The fire has been 25 per cent contained, according to local news source Ventura County Star, and fire crews have been successful in slowing growth in recent days due to calmer winds creating more favorable conditions for tackling the blaze. Sonoma Raceway raises more than $72,600 in fire relief

More than $72,600 was raised to aid Wine Country wildfire-relief efforts at Sonoma Raceway on Tuesday night.
