Watch Hilarious ‘Call Me by Your Name’ and ‘Monsters University’ Mashup Trailer (Video)

«SFGate» (sfgate.com)

Don’t let anyone fool you into thinking Luca Guadagnino’s lush gay romance “Call Me by Your Name” is a niche experience — you can find parallels even in the most commercial films. Take the genius who used the audio and fawning review quotes for the Armie Hammer-Timothee Chalamet drama and laid it over a mashup of footage for the Pixar sequel “Monsters University.” The plot and pacing of the “Call Me” trailer works surprisingly well with spliced footage from the animated film — from lingering glances... Burnley aren't the real deal – Dyche

FourFourTwo.com

Burnley manager Sean Dyche insisted his side are "not the real deal" after they beat Stoke City 1-0 to move up to fourth in the Premier League. Ashley Barnes, a second-half substitute, scored from the edge of the box in the 89th minute to send the Turf Moor crowd into raptures on Tuesday after Burnley had struggled to break down a Stoke side determined to end a miserable run of form. Dyche admitted Burnley earned all three points without playing the most attractive football, but warned this was... Читать дальше...

New York Post

The Rays are listening to offers for ace Chris Archer, closer Alex Colome and cornerstone third baseman Evan Longoria. At the moment, Colome appears the most likely to be moved, with the Cardinals and, perhaps, the Mariners among the most likely suitors. Including two option years, Archer is owed $33.75 million over the next four...

Football and the art of telling lies (7 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

All football clubs have issues, all managers are one-eyed, all those who take money from the game are keen to protect their own interests but the sheer amount of bare-faced lying in football really does my swede in tbh. It's so prevalent that for someone to tell the truth (or at least their version of it) they have to do it anonymously or in 'an explosive tell-all' autobiography written well after they've left the game. I don't really understand how or why fans can remain loyal to a sport that constantly bullshits them.

A scientist set out to prove that man flu is real so he could justify whining about his seasonal colds — what he found isn't helpful

BusinessInsider.com

Shutterstock

  • 'Man Flu' is the British term for a whiny guy who's complaining about his not-so-serious cold symptoms.
  • The Christmas issue of the peer-reviewed medical journal The BMJ takes on the issue in a lighthearted article written by a Canadian professor who says he was "tired of being accused of over-reacting" to illnesses.
  • Though there is some truth to his claim that some men might be "immunologically inferior" to some women, the scientific research is not conclusive. Читать дальше...

Predicted Spurs XI: 30-year-old could be rested against Brighton ahead of Man City clash

Tottenham News

Tottenham welcome Chris Hughton’s Brighton to Wembley on Wednesday, and Mauricio Pochettino has a few decisions to make regarding his team selection. The Spurs boss will be eager to gather further momentum after Saturday’s 5-1 win over Stoke ahead of this weekend’s trip to league leaders Manchester City. With that in mind, I can’t see him making any changes in the attacking positions. Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min were excellent against Stoke and should start again here. Читать дальше...

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Environmental groups on Tuesday blasted a legislative proposal by U.S. Rep. Chris Stewart that would create a small national park within the recently downsized Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, calling it nothing more than a ruse to try to appease conservationists and open more land for mining and grazing. "This proposal is really an insidious, cynical ploy to undo the protections that we feel are critical," said David Nimkin of the National Parks Conservation Association. Читать дальше...
