Bad Left Hook

DeGale lost his title in a stunning loss to Caleb Truax.

James DeGale lost his IBF super middleweight this past weekend in what was a shocking loss to then-challenger Caleb Truax. Now Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn, who used to promote DeGale, used to the word “shambles” to describe his former fighter’s career since winning a world title, and isn’t sure DeGale’s heart is still in the fight game.

The promoter also believes DeGale is partly to blame for his current situation since he opted... Читать дальше...

According to a December 7th letter to Nebraska Republican Congressman Don Bacon, which Tablet has obtained, Haley is now partially backing off of an October memo to Congress, in which she wrote that Doha “does not fund Hamas” and appeared to draw distinctions between Hamas’s political and military wings that run contrary to decades of US policy towards the group. The Man from Red Vienna

The New York Review of Books

What a splendid era this was going to be, with one remaining superpower spreading capitalism and liberal democracy around the world. Instead, democracy and capitalism seem increasingly incompatible. Global capitalism has escaped the bounds of the postwar mixed economy that had reconciled dynamism with security through the regulation of finance, the empowerment of labor, a welfare state, and elements of public ownership. Wealth has crowded out citizenship, producing greater concentration of both income and influence... Читать дальше...

Mariners Moose Tracks, 12/13/17: Winter Meetings, Elbows, and CRISPR-Cas9

Lookout Landing

Some good news, some strange news, some nerdy news

Hello, and a very happy Hump Day to you. It was a fairly wild Tuesday for a variety of reasons, so let’s recap the ones that the general rules of this website will allow me to recap. It was the second day of Winter Meetings last night, and not as much happened as we’d perhaps like. Still, there was enough to talk about.

You should be very skeptical of claims the Royals lost over $60 million the last two years

Royals Review

Baseball is swimming in money.

Max Rieper: The Royals are likely headed towards a rebuild, and may very well be priced out of the running to re-sign free agent Eric Hosmer. These are defensible positions from a baseball standpoint - the Royals probably can’t add enough free agents to make them much of a contender with their existing roster, and a small-market club will have trouble locking up a player to a six- or seven-year deal that will take up one-seventh of their total payroll. The... Читать дальше...

Let’s Talk Tribe Podcast Ep. 83: The Winter Meetings

Let's Go Tribe

There’s only mission this week: Bring. Him. Home.

With the Winter Meetings underway, there is plenty of Cleveland Indians rumors to talk about. Okay, not really. The Indians have been shockingly (or not shockingly) boring so far this winter, but boy do we really want Carlos Santana to come back.

Also, Bryan Shaw is gone forever. I have a sad.

Hey, if you enjoyed that episode and want to hear more, please consider subscribing to us on iTunes and YouTube and maybe leaving a nice little review or comment. Читать дальше...

It’s one thing to remain the centrepiece of a supremely talented and ambitious club side for the best part of a decade.
