SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Relatives of a man who was fatally shot inside a Syracuse home this week say he was a father of three young children and had gotten engaged just days before he was killed. Syracuse police say 33-year-old James Smith Jr. was shot around 1 a.m. Tuesday inside a home on Merriman Avenue. He later died at Upstate University Hospital.
