The DOJ is now 0-for-2 in encryption-breaking cases. The DOJ tried to get a judge to turn an All Writs Order into a blank check for broken encryption in the San Bernardino shooting case. Apple pushed back. Hard. So hard the FBI finally turned to an outside vendor to crack the shooter's iPhone -- a vendor the FBI likely knew all along could provide this assistance. Oklahoma principal charged with child abuse over paddlings

MCALESTER, Okla. – Child abuse charges have been filed against a southeastern Oklahoma school principal in connection with the paddling of two students. Pittsburg County court records indicate 50-year-old Gary Gunckel was charged with two counts of child abuse by injury on Friday. A preliminary hearing conference is scheduled Oct. 12. New charges brought in wire thefts tied to Indiana, Illinois

HAMMOND, Ind. (AP) — Two men arrested in connection with a rash of copper wire thefts in northwestern Indiana and neighboring communities in Illinois are now facing federal charges. The U.S. attorney's office says 30-year-old Jossean Echevarria of Hammond and 23-year-old Diquan Ray of Burnham, Illinois, are named in a criminal complaint charging them with interstate transportation of stolen property.
