A 15-foot long and nine-foot high 'charkha' (spinning wheel) erected at the Race Course road here has become the cynosure of all eyes on the 149th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Tuesday. The six-and-a-half-foot wide spinning wheel is a replica of the one used by the Mahatma to spin khadi yarn, with a view to promoting locally-made clothes after boycotting foreign clothes during the freedom struggle. Over 50 camels rescued in Rajasthan

Over 50 camels were rescued from three trucks while they were being illegally transported to Madhya Pradesh from Chittorgarh district in Rajasthan, a police officer said. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted three trucks during security check and rescued 52 camels, he said. They were being illegally transported to Indore in Madhya Pradesh, the officer said. The police have detained drivers and cleaners of all the three trucks and two other people in this connection.
