Good morning! Did you see that TV programme about RBS last night? It was fascinating, and showed the extraordinary recklessness, hubris (and inadequate regulation) of the top brass at RBS leading up to the 2008 financial crisis. This reminds me of an excellent book on the financial crisis, written by the then Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling, called "Back from the Brink". Tampon price to drop as Treasurer moves to eliminate GST

The GST on tampons and sanitary pads could be eradicated in 2019 as Treasurer Josh Frydenberg today sets out to meet his state counterparts and deliver a proposal. State treasurers are expected to support the project but could reach an impasse over the distribution of lost GST revenue.

Dow's triple-digit gain defies bad broad market breadth

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rallied 107 points, with 23 of 30 components trading higher, but broader market internals are painting a fairly bearish breadth picture. The number of declining stocks is dominating advancers 1,765 to 1,166 on the NYSE and 1,962 to 900 on the Nasdaq.
