(AP) — Republican lawmakers in New York are heading to Long Island for the second of two days of hearings into recent decisions by the state parole board to release some high-profile offenders. Tuesday morning's hearing will be held at the Hicksville Community Center. An initial hearing was held Monday in Albany. BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — A western New York man has admitted to fatally shooting his 79-year-old mother with a shotgun. Erie County prosecutors say 50-year-old Wayne Kozak of Eden pleaded guilty Monday to manslaughter in the death of Mary Kozak in April 2017. Kozak was arrested several hours later at an Erie, Pennsylvania, motel. He faces up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced Nov. 7. Prosecutors have not publicly discussed a possible motive.
