Saudi Arabia is working to remove Sudan from the United States' list of state sponsors of terrorism, a Saudi foreign ministry tweet said on Sunday. The tweet followed a meeting in Riyadh between King Salman and the head of Sudan's transitional sovereign council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and prime minister Abdalla Hamdok. The designation as a state sponsor of terrorism dates back to 1993, over allegations that former President Omar al-Bashir's Islamist government was supporting terrorism.
