Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami's father-in-law Kaliyannan passed away in his residence near Thevur in Salem district on Sunday following a heart attack. He was 80. Palaniswami, who is in his hometown of Edapadi, is leaving for Ammapalayam near Thevur to attend the last rites scheduled for 11 PM, party sources said.

BSE benchmark Sensex rose 192 points to end at 39,250 on Sunday as investors built up fresh positions in the special Muhurat trading session to mark the beginning of Hindu Samvat year 2076. The 30-share index, after opening on a firm footing at 39,397.37, inched up to 39,402.23 as investors accumulated select auto, IT and bank stocks.
