Canopy Growth's stock surges after narrower-than-expected loss, while revenue comes up short

The U.S.-listed shares of Canopy Growth Corp. charged up 6.8% in premarket trading Monday, after the Canada-based cannabis company reported a narrower-than-expected fiscal first-quarter loss, although revenue rose less than forecast. The net loss for the quarter to June 30 narrowed to C$108.5 million ($81.05 million), or 30 cents a share, from C$185.9 million, or 54 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Cancelled music festivals to get MTA money to cover marketing costs

The organisers of four international festivals which were cancelled due to coronavirus concerns will be receiving taxpayer money to cover their marketing expenses.  The Malta Tourism Authority said that this was not a sponsorship, but standard practice for "many" large events intended to draw tourists to Malta. An MTA spokesperson said they could not say how much money would be disbursed to cover the festivals’ marketing expenses, as organisers have yet to provide the authorities with receipts of their marketing efforts.
