Defence Ministry considering medical safeguards for 'injured' Agniveers

At present, the terms and conditions notified by the government do not mention any post-discharge benefits for soldiers requiring long-term medical care due to injuries attributable to service. Soldiers recruited under the old scheme were covered by the armed forces medical services network for life, besides the Ex-Servicemen Health Scheme.
