2013 land row: Allahabad HC orders government inquiry against Noida officials

The Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh state government to initiate an inquiry into the actions of officials from the Noida Authority who allegedly acquired 4680 square meters of land from a villager in Wazidpur without paying her compensation. The Industrial Development Department was also directed to recover from the officials the financial loss caused to the authority, if any, for the illegal action. 9 injured as cylinder explodes near Noida airport site

A cooking gas cylinder exploded at a roadside tea stall near the upcoming Noida International Airport on Thursday evening, injuring nine people. The incident happened at 6 pm in Kishorepur village, a few kilometers from the airport. A team from the Jewar Police Station rushed to the spot and took the injured to the hospital. A 30-year-old scrap dealer was arrested in Gurgaon on Wednesday for allegedly trying to sell illegal weapons. Five countrymade pistols and cartridges were recovered from his possession. The accused, Mohammad Azharuddin, has no previous criminal record and was trying to make a profit by selling illegal weapons. He purchased all these weapons from Alwar in Rajasthan and was looking for prospective buyers. He had come to meet a potential buyer in Gurgaon when he was nabbed from a park in Sector 30.
