Greed in US Health Care—Reply

Jamanetwork.com

In Reply I thank Dr Back for his Letter, and I agree with him. My Viewpoint was indeed directed mainly to JAMA’s core readership—physicians, but the problems created by a profit-driven health care system go far beyond physicians in both cause and effect. Back’s critique triggers the provocative question as to whether health care ought to be market driven in the first place, and, if not, what it will take to change the status quo. In their recent book, The Big Myth: How American Business Taught Us to Loathe Government and Love the Free Market... Читать дальше...

Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Recommendations From an Online Chat-Based AI Model—Reply

Jamanetwork.com

In Reply In response to the Letter by Drs Gellert and Jaszczak about our Research Letter, we agree that current application of language learning models in medicine will require close clinician and regulatory oversight. Indeed, our study findings highlight key limitations of language learning models. For example, we noted that the model provided inaccurate information about the availability of inclisiran for lipid lowering and inappropriate information about the interpretation of a low-density lipoprotein... Greed in US Health Care

Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Recommendations From an Online Chat-Based AI Model

Jamanetwork.com

To the Editor A recent Research Letter suggested that a research version of a dialogue-based artificial intelligence (AI) model (ChatGPT) can potentially assist clinical workflows by augmenting patient education and patient-clinician communication. Studies indicate that this dialogue-based AI model provides appropriate clinical responses and even passes parts of the US Medical Licensing Examination. Language learning models may support patient education and, as they become more accurate, may perform... Читать дальше...

Gigadb.org

As an important cereal crop, common oat has attracted more and more attention due to its healthy nutritional components and bioactive compounds. Here, high-depth resequencing of 115 oat accessions and closely related hexaploid species worldwide was performed. Based on genetic diversity and linkage disequilibrium analysis, it was found that hulled oat (Avena sativa) experienced a more severe bottleneck than naked oat (Avena sativa var. nuda). Combined with the divergence time of ~51,200 years ago... Читать дальше...
