Russia's termination of the initiative to export its grain via the Black Sea route is "no good news", according to a Spanish EU presidency representative, who echoed concerns of the EU executive, as European farmers sounded alarm bells over what could possibly be the worst arable crop harvest since 2007.

Access to higher education in Niger: In Niamey, students and teachers push for change

In Niger, significant investments have led to remarkable improvements in students' situation, from beefed-up scholarships to upgraded university facilities. Yet, to this day, 23% of young people aged 15 to 29 are still unemployed. Many youths leave the country either before starting their studies or right after graduation due to the lack of job opportunities. Yet, some choose to remain in the country, or to return after a stint abroad to contribute to Niger’s development. FRANCE 24's Harold Girard and Lucas Philippe report.

Globeleq to acquire majority stake in Mozambique solar project

Independent power producer Globeleq has bought renewable energy company Scatec's 52.5% interest in the 41 MW Mocuba solar photovoltaic plant, in Mozambique, for $8.5-million. It will also acquire Norwegian pension fund KLP Norfund Investments’ 22.5% stake in the plant, giving it a 75% interest in the plant. National utility Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) will continue to hold the remaining 25%.
