Cyclooxygenase-2 plays a role in oncogenesis and its overexpression is associated with triple-negative breast cancer. However, the mechanisms whereby cyclooxygenase-2 contribute to breast cancer are complex and not well understood. Cyclooxygenase-2 overexpression causes hypoxia, oxidative stress, and endoplasmic reticulum stress. The aim of this study is to investigate the correlations among cyclooxygenase-2 expression, endoplasmic reticulum stress-associated molecules... Читать дальше...

The goal of this paper is to better understand the importance of a long-erased border between two empires that once partitioned Poland and its ongoing effect on regional educational achievement. Previous research has indicated that inherited norms towards education may explain the observed gap in the achievement of students in the former Austrian and Russian partitions of Poland. Findings suggest that although a gap in favour of the former Austrian partition does indeed exist in four school subjects... Читать дальше...

This paper models the dynamics of Chinese yuan–denominated long-term interest rate swap yields. It shows that the short-term interest rate exerts a decisive influence on the long-term swap yield after controlling for various macrofinancial variables, such as core inflation, the growth of industrial production, the percent change in the equity price index, and the percentage change in the Chinese yuan exchange rate. The autoregressive distributed lag approach... Читать дальше...

This study was to investigate the effects of ammonia and manganese in the metabolism of minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE). A total of 32 Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into four subgroups: chronic hyperammonemia (CHA), chronic hypermanganese (CHM), MHE and control group (CON). 1H-NMR-based metabolomics was used to detect the metabolic changes. Sparse projection to latent structures discriminant analysis was used for identifying and comparing the key metabolites. Читать дальше...

Photoacoustic and absorption spectroscopy imaging are safe and non-invasive molecular quantification techniques, which do not utilize ionizing radiation and allow for repeated probing of samples without them being contaminated or damaged. Here we assessed the potential of these techniques for measuring biochemical parameters. We investigated the statistical association between 31 time and frequency domain features derived... Animacy plays an important role in cognition (e.g., memory and language). Across languages, a processing advantage for animate words (representing living beings), comparatively to inanimate words (i.e., non-living things), has been found mostly in young adults. Evidence in older adults, though, is still unclear, possibly due to the use of stimuli not properly characterised for this age group. Indeed, whereas several animacy word-rating studies already exist for young adults... Читать дальше...

The integration of individually replicating genes into a primitive chromosome is a key evolutionary transition in the development of life, allowing the simultaneous inheritance of genes. However, how this transition occurred is unclear because the extended size of primitive chromosomes replicate slower than unlinked genes. Theoretical studies have suggested that a primitive chromosome can evolve in the presence of cell-like compartments, as... Читать дальше...
