Taiwan says 42 warplane incursions after launch of China military drills
Taiwan has recorded 42 warplane incursions, as well as eight ships, into its air defence zone, following China's announcement of military drills. Twenty-six warplanes crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, according to the country's defence ministry. China's exercise was designed to simulate "real combat conditions" and included joint air and sea patrols and exercises by its navy and air force.
