Brazil’s state energy giant Petrobras reported a 41.5% decline in its profits for the third quarter of the year, missing analyst estimates. At the same time, the oil giant said it expected full-year oil and gas output to be higher than previously estimated. Europe-based global major aerospace and defence group Airbus has released its results for the first nine months of this year (9M23). Consolidated group revenues, at €42.56-billion, were up 12%, year-on-year (y-o-y). Earnings before interest and taxes (Ebit), adjusted, for 9M23 were €3.631-billion (4% up on last year), but Ebit reported, at €2.712-billion, were 24% down, y-o-y. Fans of Philip Pullman have been waiting almost five years for the final instalment in the author’s sextet of books about his intrepid heroine Lyra and her adventures in multiple worlds. They won’t have to wait too much longer. Pullman says he has written 500 pages of a 540-page novel to conclude the “Book of Dust” trilogy, and it should be published next year.
