New challenge to delay Karpowership's Richards Bay plant
Karpowership has been hit with a new challenge, as civil society groups have appealed the environmental approval it received for its proposed Richards Bay plant. The groups groundWork and the South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA), who are represented by the Centre for Environmental Rights, submitted their appeal, they said in a statement. "The appeal is also being supported by three additional organisations with similar objectives – Natural Justice, the Green Connection and Oceans Not Oil," the statement read.
