33 women in hospital after night-long NTPC protest

Gurgaon: Youths beat up cops who asked them not to drink on roads, on run

A group of youths beat up three policemen who tried to stop them from drinking alcohol in public. The drunk men hurled abuses at the cops and thrashed them with sticks. An FIR has been filed and the accused are yet to be identified. The injured policemen are undergoing treatment and in a stable condition. Key master drain damaged since monsoon, GMDA set to rebuild it

GMDA plans to reconstruct the stormwater drain in Gurgaon to enhance drainage infrastructure and combat waterlogging. The existing drain, built by HSVP two decades ago, suffered significant damage in the last monsoon. The GMDA CEO has approved a budget of Rs 6.5 crore for the renovation of the drain. Additionally, a proposal for a flood control office and measures for flood preparedness in the upcoming monsoon season were also approved. Consultants have been engaged to prepare detailed project reports for road upgradation in the area.

Discom engineer, staff flag power theft; chased & thrashed

A man and his son allegedly thrashed a DHBVN junior engineer and held a foreman captive for over an hour after the two discom staffers pointed out power theft at their house in Durga Colony on Monday. JE Sanket Kataria and Adesh were checking a three-storey building owned by Satbeer Thakran, when they saw that an external cable was connected to the MCB. Satbeer rents out 50 rooms in the building. As the staffers pointed this out and started making a video, Satbeer and his son started thrashing them with pipes and sticks, the JE said.

Soon, fences on roads to protect plants & keep squatters at bay

GMDA in Gurgaon plans to install fences along the greenbelts and central verges of sectors 37C and D roads to protect plants and prevent illegal encroachment. An estimated budget of Rs 20 lakh has been sanctioned for installing galvanised iron wire mesh fencing. The residents have welcomed the decision after raising the matter for the last two years.
