Historic open-water swim to be held in Chicago River in September
After 12 years of planning, the Chicago River Swim is set to take place in September, the river’s first organized open-water swim in more than a century. The murky river – which was used as a sewer in the 1800s – may seem off-putting to some Chicagoans.
