Vinnie Jones weeps as he reveals he’s cried almost every night since wife’s tragic cancer death at 53
TEARFUL Vinnie Jones has revealed he’s cried almost every night since his wife’s tragic cancer death at 53.
The hardman footballer-turned actor last night wept as he told of his heartbreaking final moments with beloved Tanya as she slipped away.
Welling up with emotion, devoted Vinnie revealed in heart-wrenching detail how he gently kissed her and whispered: “I love you, I love you.”
Recalling the agonising scene at their Hollywood home surrounded by family, he told The Sunday Mirror: “I woke up to hear this coughing.
“I had read a lot of books, you don’t want to read them but you do, and I knew what that coughing meant.
“I flew up and went into her room. She was gasping for breath for about 25 minutes.”
I kissed her a lot and told her I loved her. I kept saying: ‘I love you, I love you.’

Stricken Tanya’s parents, her brother, and daughter Kayley, 32, joined Vinnie as a nurse delivered morphine to her.
Vinnie added: “We knew it was the end, we were cuddling her.
“I kissed her a lot and told her I loved her. I kept saying: ‘I love you, I love you.’
“It was all very peaceful, then her gasps got less and less and she went quiet.
“I looked at the nurse and said: ‘Has she gone?’ And that was it.
‘HAPPENED SO QUICKLY’
“It all happened so quickly, you are not prepared for it. So we sat there for an hour with her.
“We were completely numb. It was as though she was still sleeping. But she was gone.
“When she finally went it felt like Tinker Bell had released from her.
“It felt like her spirit was moving in the room. I got peace from that.”
SIX-YEAR CANCER BATTLE
Soulmate Tanya died in July after a brave six-year battle with three types of cancer.
While opening up about his crippling grief, Vinnie was able to smile with pride as he recalled his wife’s strength.
She and Vinnie were both treated for melanoma – but while Vinnie got the all-clear, the cruel disease spread through Tanya’s body.
Vinnie told how, despite her illness, she fought on determined to be strong for her family – and maintained that courage even in her final days.
She was the light of my life. I will never be with anyone else

And ruling out ever falling in love again, Vinnie declared: “She was the light of my life. I will never be with anyone else.”
Speaking from Tanya’s childhood home, where Vinnie now lives with her brother, The Mean Machine star insists he will never move on.
Vinnie, who was married to Tanya for 25 years and adopted Kayley, said: “She wouldn’t give me her blessing to meet someone else – I just know her.
“I can’t see it happening, I might have friends or whatever, I would be astonished if that happens.
“I think I’ve only got a little way to go until I’m with her, in the spectrum of the universe.”

And speaking of the crippling pain he still suffers following Tanya’s death, Vinnie added: “An outsider might say, he’s doing well.
“But in the evenings, I’ve cried almost every night.”
Then smiling at the thought of Tanya, Vinnie added: “People say, how did it last? And I say because it was real, true love.
“I think we found true love.”
