[Women's Soccer] Women's Soccer Drops Home Match with BCU

Doane Women's Soccer put up a strong effort against Briar Cliff on Saturday afternoon in Crete. However, the Chargers were able to come away with a 3-1 victory over the Tigers by out-shooting Doane, 24-6, in the game.

The Chargers were able to get on the board in the 15th minute of play as Sonja Rao scored the first goal. Briar Cliff led 2-0 at halftime following a goal by Gina Alvarez in the 39th minute. BCU out-shot the Tigers 16-2 in the opening 45 minutes.

In the second half, BCU added to their lead in the 76th minute on a goal by Taylor Hill. Doane was able to pick up their goal in the 88th minute as Grace Morey (FR/Omaha, Neb.) centered a ball for Abby Maxwell (FR/Colbert, Wash.). Maxwell was able to send the ball past the BCU keeper for her second goal of the season.

Doane keeper Maddy Meredith (FR/Temecula, Calif.) finished with 11 saves for the Tigers. Two keepers combined for two saves for Briar Cliff.

The Tigers will play at home again on Wednesday, October 9, as they host Hastings College at 5 PM.
