Horse racing tips: Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe trends – we help you find the winner of the Longchamp contest live on ITV this Sunday at 3.05pm
ENABLE has one major negative to overcome as she bids to make Arc history.
You have to go back to Marienbard in 2002 for the last five-year-old to strike in Europe’s biggest race and it’s happened just TWICE in the past four decades.
That’s some handicap to overcome as the last hat-trick seeker Treve found in 2015.
Her draw in stall nine is another slight negative but the relatively small field means that’s less of a concern.
Aside from that, the John Gosden hotpot has plenty of ticks. She has proven herself at the track and over the trip. She’s won numerous Group 1 contests while fillies and mares more than hold their own in the Arc.
But at odds-on, that age stat has to be a concern. It also applies to Waldgeist, Kiseki and Nagano Gold.
Outsiders can win but Blast Onepiece, Fierement, French King and Soft Light would all be massive upsets.
Japan and Ghaiyyath are both drawn wider than Enable so may find life tough.
That leaves us with Sottsass and Magical who have both won a Group 1, are proven over the 1m4f distance and have a good draw.
Of that pair, SOTTSASS looks the most progressive and did well to win at Longchamp last time despite traffic problems. He showed his class when winning the French Derby and has more to come.
