Arsenal ratings: Guendouzi the shining light as Gunners win but Kolasinac must do better
ARSENAL moved up to third in the Premier League as they held on to clinch victory over Bournemouth.
David Luiz’s first goal for the Gunners was enough to secure a 1-0 win at the Emirates which saw them close the gap on Manchester City in second to just one point.
But Unai Emery’s side were forced to work hard for the three points as they allowed the Cherries to push them back deeper and deeper in the second half.
SunSport’s Charlie Wyett takes a look at how the Arsenal players rated in their home win.
BERND LENO
Key save to deny Jack Stacey in the 56th minute but until then, had very little to do. 6
CALUM CHAMBERS
Comfortable performance although still made the odd mistake. Stuck out a leg to stop Dom Solanke scoring. 6
SOKRATIS
A couple of decent blocks, particularly one from Ryan Fraser – and some vital headers at the end. 6
DAVID LUIZ
Fine header for his first goal in Arsenal colours but as ever, a bit shaky at the back. 7
SEAD KOLASINAC
Did a reasonable job against Harry Wilson but some of his passing was not particularly good. 6
DANI CEBALLOS
Not afraid to get stuck in but also makes a meal of challenges in an attempt to get players booked – although not alone. Sometimes gets caught in possession. 6
MATTEO GUENDOUZI
Brilliant tackle to block a shot from Josh King in the 90th minute. Once again worked hard and does appear to be improving each week. 8
GRANIT XHAKA
At least he did not leave the pitch to laughter and jeers like the previous game against Aston Villa. No major mistakes, for a change. 6
NICOLAS PEPE
Perfect near-post corner for the opening goal although still struggling to completely adapt in England – and needs to be given time. 6
PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG
Always scores on a Sunday – apart from this game. He had found the net in his previous six matches on the Sabbath but only had a couple of chances. 6
BUKAYO SAKO
Gave the Bournemouth defence a few problems but would still liked to have seen more of the ball. Got a standing ovation when he was subbed. 6
SUBS
GABRIELLE MARTINELLI
The Brazilian teenager was a 62nd minute replacement for Pepe. Booked for a late challenge on Harry Wilson. 5
